The Backfill Strategy
When facing a Superior Opponent across the board, we employ a Strategy known as "Backfill."
This is a very simple Strategy that is designed to get us the most STARS we can to try to win. Despite
how simple the Strategy is - it really requires a coordinated effort by our entire Team.
We begin by having our lowest ranks attack their lowest ranks, level for level. This means (in say for example
a 20 on 20 WAR) that our 20 would attack their 20. If our 20 gets 5 STARS, then our 19 attacks their 19. If our 19 gets 5 STARS, then
our 18 attacks their 18 - and so on down the line. We keep this up until someone doesn't get all 5 STARS.
At that point, we begin to Backfill. Say for example, we stumble at 14 - our 14 gets less than 5
STARS on their 14. In that case, our 13 would then attack their 14 to get 5 STARS. They would then continue with their second attack
on their 13, and so on until we stumble again.
As we proceed down the line, we may increasingly have to Backfill as the opponents War Bases get increasingly
tougher. This means we may actually end up with our 9 attacking their 11 and 12 (if we had to Backfill that much.)
If it becomes evident that the opponent will win the War regardless of how many STARS we get, the higher
ranked will begin modifying the backfill to shoot entirely for AXP rather than full on victory. We only need to get 1 STAR on an opponent's
War Base in order to declare a victory, and gain the AXP to advance our Alliance.
Nevertheless, if our opponent's team members aren't as active as ours are - we can actually win the War with this Strategy
because - even though they may utterly NUKE our highest players, their lack of Team participation may cost them the War since we were busy getting
as many STARS as we could!
